This design/build project, funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for $45,127,000, will replace the existing port at 137 Bridge Street. The new Border Patrol Complex includes design and construction of a new main port building, secondary inspection building, exterior mechanical yard, commercial building, future expansion building, bridge/underpass, new standard/heavy duty rigid/flexible pavement sections, sidewalks, various site retaining walls and infiltration/stormwater detention structures.

The Land Port of Entry (LPOE) was recognized for its concept design at GSA’s Design Excellence Awards ceremony in 2011. It has been registered with the U.S. Green Building Council and is on track for LEED Silver certification.

MGA provided design phase geotechnical engineering services as well as construction observation and soil testing services during earthwork construction of the project. The varying site subsurface conditions, silty nature of the on-site soils, and the presence of compressible clayey silt soils were just a few of the issues addressed by MGA.
